The designer that inspires me to become a graphic designer is Ivan Chermayeff. He was born in 1932 in London, which is an intriguing place someday I hope to travel there, but sadly his time had ended when he passed away in 2017 but just because he’s gone doesn’t mean his legacy and passion to inspire people graphic design is gone too because he created so many designs that were very interesting, simple, and eye-catching where you can’t help but want to know more of how he comes up with those ideas of designing. The type of work Ivan does is designing corporate logos, posters, and book cover this inspires me to want to do logos or illustration designs as well because Ivan and his partners Tom Geismar and Sagi Haviv worked together in establishing a firm in 1957 where they have created hundreds of them for brands, commercials, advertisements, etc. and there are designs you might have seen as you be going different places which is fascinating. Here are some images of the work he has designed:
The examples of his work above show how much he has created throughout the years and I have never been more inspired by his work and creativity. He can make simple designs that express and shown so much more of where he is portraying or show meaning within the designs. This makes me want to become a great designer that can show the world this is me and what I love to do, just like Ivan. Here is Ivan famous quote that will inspire you because it did for me:
“Design is directed toward human beings. To design is to solve human problems by identifying them and executing the best solution”.
